Mosaic Conversations
Mosaic Artists of Canada is pleased to announce Mosaic Conversations, a new series exclusively for MAC/AMC members, that explores a variety of topics related to the art, practice, and community of mosaics. This is an opportunity for mosaic artists and enthusiasts from across the country to come together, to share and learn from one another, and to hear the stories behind the work.
MAC hosts Mosaic Conversations every three months, on the second Wednesday of the month, details and Zoom links will be shared with members by email.

What happens when permanence meets impermanence?
Mosaic is an art form rooted in permanence, yet so much of what inspires artistic expression is fleeting. A moment of light, the passage of time, the changing rhythms of nature, a memory or an experience — all can become the starting point for something enduring.
But what happens when the durable and the ephemeral meet?
Join us for a thought-provoking Mosaic Conversation with Kelley Knickerbocker, an internationally recognized contemporary mosaic artist whose practice is driven by experimentation, innovation and conceptual expression.
Working at the intersection of traditional mosaic principles, mixed media and assemblage, Kelley continually challenges conventional approaches to materials and artistic expression. Her work invites us to look beyond the familiar and consider new possibilities for an art form with centuries of history.
Her intriguing presentation, The Eloquent Courtship of Durable and Ephemeral in Mosaic, promises an opportunity to pause, question and reconsider the relationship between permanence and impermanence in contemporary mosaic.
An invitation to expand our thinking, challenge convention and discover new perspectives on the possibilities of mosaic.
ABOUT OUR GUEST
Kelley Knickerbocker is a Seattle-based studio artist whose self-taught, material-driven practice has earned international recognition. A two-time recipient of the American Society of Mosaic Artists' Innovation in Contemporary Mosaic Award (2015 and 2024), she is widely exhibited and collected.
In addition to her studio practice, Kelley is an experienced educator, offering in-person workshops and online courses to mosaic artists around the world.
